Houston Graphic Design Firm, Gateway Design, Creates New Logo for Houston Non-Profit Organization

FUUSA Unveiled Name Change and New Logo on October 30

Houston, Texas (Marketwire) November 2, 2009 –One of the rewards in successful graphic design is to convey a powerful message simply by looking at a logo. Perhaps an equally fulfilling reward is assisting an organization that helps children and families in crisis.

Houston graphic design firm, Gateway Design, has done both.

For the past 20 years, Gateway Design has generously assisted Houston non-profits including The Women’s Fund with branding materials, brochures, newsletters and logo design.

Connie Senter, president of Gateway Design, was particularly impressed with an organization called Families Under Urban & Social Attack, Inc. (FUUSA). In 1982, its founder Rev. Leslie Smith II, wanted to create programs for hundreds of adults and children faced with tough social issues that were afflicting their lives. Rev. Smith dedicated FUUSA to helping those burdened by drug abuse, homelessness, and a lack of health insurance. The Rescue Youth Program aimed at preventing  youth involvement in drugs and gang-related activities is one of the many pivotal programs of FUUSA.

Many civic leaders have volunteered to assist the efforts of Rev. Smith  in any way possible. When discussions commenced about implementing changes to FUUSA, Gateway Design was pleased to be part of the team assisting with the change.

They had created some of the branding materials needed when FUUSA’s new facility was opened. Senter had made some suggestions to Rev. Smith and recently, a decision was made to rename the valued non-profit. Connie and her team were asked to create a logo to reflect the new name Change Happens!

The logo was unveiled at the 5th annual fall luncheon at the Junior League of Houston. The annual luncheon celebrated the 20th anniversary of FUUSA and the many ways in which they continue to empower families in the community.

“Reverend Smith and his staff have done so much to help families faced with adversity,” said Senter. “This is a wonderful organization. I am inspired every time I meet with Reverend Smith and his team.  My company is pleased to design the new logo for Change Happens!,  and we are certain  that this organization will continue to give children and their families the support needed to help them through tough times.”

“We are so grateful to Gateway Design for their assistance and creativity in designing our new logo,” said Rev. Leslie Smith, CEO and founder of Families Under Urban and Social Attack, Inc.  “The new logo conveys the timely message that with the support of our community, change can happen.”
